In the Beginning
Genesis Real Estate Development, LLC (GRED) was founded in December 2021 in Fort Myers, Florida, by Ron Mathews, a visionary entrepreneur dedicated to solving the affordable housing crisis.
Ron’s journey into construction began in 2019, when he took an internship with a Southwest Florida construction company. Starting at the ground level as a laborer and runner, his goal was to understand the industry from the inside out — and ultimately become a General Contractor capable of building communities that ordinary families could afford.
When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the world, construction remained essential. Ron used this time to gain extensive hands-on experience, uncovering systemic issues that limited both efficiency and affordability.
Identifying the Problem
Through firsthand experience, Ron recognized key challenges facing the industry:
On the buyer side, families faced even greater struggles:
-
A shortage of skilled, reliable workers
-
Rising material and labor costs
-
Poor scheduling and lack of coordination among subcontractors
-
Minimal attention to detail and long project delays
-
Disorganization and inflated prices in major trades such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing
-
Soaring home prices and large down payments
-
Limited housing inventory
-
Difficulty competing with cash buyers
These challenges underscored the need for a new model — one that prioritized people,
transparency, and attainable homeownership.
A Vision Takes Shape
As the pandemic reshaped real estate across the nation, Southwest Florida became a prime destination. Home prices surged by over 50% in one year, making housing unaffordable for many local workers.
Determined to make a difference, Ron immersed himself in real estate development, learning every aspect from land platting and density planning to cost analysis and financing structures.
By April 2021, he presented his first major development proposal to PNC Bank — Lake Vue, a 20-acre project featuring 100 workforce housing apartments built around a 10-acre lake.
The project’s goal: to transition renters into homeowners within two years, offering no money down and no closing costs through structured financing assistance.
Recognizing its innovation and community impact, PNC Bank issued a Letter of Intent (LOI) for $15 million to support the project.

Building the Foundation
By November 2021, the property was officially secured under Lake Vue Development, LLC.
One month later, Genesis Real Estate Development was incorporated with the State of Florida.
In February 2022, Ron concluded his internship, and GRED became a partner in Lake
Vue Development, LLC, while also securing the management contract in perpetuity. This
milestone marked the beginning of GRED’s ongoing mission — to develop high-quality,
affordable housing that strengthens communities from within.
At Genesis Real Estate Development, our mission is simple:
To create affordable, sustainable housing solutions that empower families and uplift
communities.
We believe that every family deserves access to a safe, high-quality home — without being
